the secret is love! tapas evening at nh kensington hotel

As you might remember, it wasn’t that long ago, since Frenchie, Clara and I enjoyed the most amazing family brunch with live music at the NH London Kensington Hotel. We love this wonderful 4 star hotel for many reasons. First of all, it is located in our neighbourhood – close to Harrods and the fashion stores in Sloane Square and High Street Kensington – oh, and the city’s most famous museums are also within walking distance. Second, the food here is quite extraordinary – just wait and see…

It was Saturday evening and Frenchie and I were out on a date without Clara. This time it was all about tapas!

Inside the hotel you will find a modern restaurant, as well as a lounge bar that is warm and inviting

The NH Kensington Hotel also has a beautiful garden, which is perfect for tapas-evenings in the summer. It was however a bit too cold for stayting outside, so we decided to eat at the bar

We started out with a lovely glass of Spanish white wine at the bar…

Mummy-time with wine in the lounge! Ahhh….

The tapas selection was as amazing as expected! There wasn’t a thing, you couldn’t order on the menu-card and it was very hard for us to choose. So we decided to go for the hotel’s most popular dishes

You can not order tapas without Jabugo Ham Croquetas! They are my all time favourites! These beauties were served with delicious Txangurro Croquetas (crab with onion, leek and brandy)

Happy Frenchie enjoying toasted bread with grated tomato and Serrano ham. Yum!

Frenchie loves Padron Peppers. Having worked in Barcelona, he knows a lot about tapas – and these are a must!

I am on the other hand a big fan of Sobrasada – a spreadable chorizo with mahon cheese and honey! You have to order these, when visiting!

 – and the wine kept coming! I was in my happy place!

Another classic tapas dish is Patatas Bravas (Potatoes with bravas sauce) They were a bit on the spicy side, but very tasty!

Frenchie was so happy, when he found out, that we were having grilled octopus. He loves octopus so much, and this one didn’t disappoint  5 stars from Frenchie! I don’t eat octopus, so he had it all to himself (no complaints there!)

But I do eat crab, so this dish put a big smile on my face! Frenchie had the oysters. They were big and beautiful. As always all seafood from NH Hotels is super fresh – (you really must try the seafood extravaganza at The Sunday brunch buffet!)

Spanish tortilla with onion! I asked Juan, what the secret was behind this delicious dish! He looked at me and smiled… “The secret is loooove, of course! Love for the food!” Why did I even ask! This was the perfect answer!

Glorious classic desserts: Fried milk with caramel ice-cream and Santiago cake (almond cake) How I just love Spanish food…

I would like to thank The NH Kensington Hotel for making sure, that Frenchie and I had a wonderful evening out! I can warmly recommend coming here for a quick snack as well as “the whole enchilada” The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed and the staff is warm and welcoming!
