Staycation… such a popular choice these days! And now I know why! To be honest, I have never experienced a staycation before. Why stay at a hotel, when your home is 20 mins drive away? I will tell you why! It is an amazing opportunity to get away from it all without the travel-hassle! You basically take time off from work and daily chores and instead spending quality time with your family (in very luxurious surroundings!) Yay! In front of Marriott Country Hall Hotel with my mini-me (Who has recently started copying my moves! Too cute!) How to help the whole family recover from home-schooling? I have the answer! Why don’t you treat your little ones to an unforgettable adventure – exploring London at the riverside Marriott Hotel County Hall with the Very Important Kids (VIK) Package? This is what we did – and we loved every minute! Ready to embrace history and luxury at Marriott Hotel County Hall. The hotel is London’s former City Hall and located in bustling South Bank, steps away from Westminster Bridge Clara really wanted to have a chat with this one! Clara became friends with the staff immediately. The service here is impeccable… You can definitely smile behind a mask! Staying safe is important at Marriott County Hall Hotel! Heading for room 356… Off to paradise! Clara took her pink balloon everywhere – the sweetest thing really! Welcome to our luxurious family suite – it was almost bigger than our house! I felt at home immediately! How could you not? (just wait to you see the views from here) Tea for two! Mummy / daughter quality time! Bonus-info: The riverside location of the hotel has the London Eye and Sea Life Aquarium on the doorstep, South Bank street performers, river cruises and the London Dungeon. Over the bridge there are the House of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Buckingham Palace within walking distance. What’s not to love! Huge bathroom… – with a Japanese toilet! (Frenchie was very impressed!) A spacious walking closet with plenty of space, fluffy robes and slippers But first coffee! Clara had so much fun playing with the Nespresso machine (there was no water in it though – and I did pull out the plug) A room with a view! Our big bed was heavenly and Clara was gifted with the sweetest County Hall Teddy Bear, a mini bath robe and lovely kids’ toiletries (read more about the VIK package here) But the best part of it all… was the view! Spectacular, breathtaking view of South Bank and The London Eye! We could not get enough and just wanted to stay here forever Happy times… Bonus-info: The Marriott Country Hall guest rooms and suites feature luxury bedding, pristine marble bathrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi. There is a state-of-the-art fitness centre and you can relax at the indoor pool as well Time for a little walk before dinner… I absolutely love The London Eye and have enjoyed a few rides over time. Want to know more about The London Eye? Read more here As Clara had a little cold and we really, really loved our suite, we didn’t stay out for long, but I can warmly recommend taking a long stroll along The River Thames. The South Bank is a dynamic area at the heart of London’s cultural scene, where you will find The Southbank Centre, National Theatre, and BFI film theatre, which are all world-class arts venues. The riverside walkway is lined with trees, restaurants and historic pubs, and is the site of frequent fairs and events. (I particularly enjoy the Christmas marked) Two cocktails for me – none for Frenchie! Nah… Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, where you will find over 100 gins and locally-sourced steaks from O’Shea’s Butchers. Dynamic business meetings and special events come to life at this hotel, which boasts 7,071 square feet of elegant space with views of Westminster! Take me back! I love gin… Especially that Japanese one, that you don’t get to taste in many places! All dressed up and ready to explore. Clara was running around at the hotel having the time of her life! Ladidadidaaaaahhhh… Can’t keep up with me, Daddy! Hmmm… This looks like fun! The gorgeous lobby… “Hi Mommy! I am just photo-bombing your shoot!” The best photos are usually these! Love it! (and again the staff was just amazing and up for fun times with Clara!) Weeeee… Lovely Kids Menu! We had our dinner at Gillray’s Steakhouse. Another amazing place to enjoy the view of The London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. This London restaurant features locally sourced and seasonal produce at its best. The majority of the products are sourced from within 150 miles of the restaurant using Kent and Essex based farms… Love it! Aperol Spritz and delicious salt and pepper squid! (must try!) Nom, nom, nom… Pizza is always a winner! – and so are the steaks here at Gillrays! A gorgeous medium/ rare Sirloin Steak for me…. – and a blue Rib-Eye Steak for Frenchie! Exactly like he prefers it! No complaints here. This was the perfect staycation! Bon appetit! No words needed! You can enter here from the bar to get a stunning view of The London Eye and Marriott County Hall Hotel by night Only love for this little one….(who was starting to become a bit tired) I am just making one more coffee before bed-time, Mummy! (Erhmm No, you are not!) It’s time to sleep! But first a bedtime story (with one of the most impressive views of London in the background) “Just calling Grandmother to say goodnight. ok?” (The things children do to avoid going to bed!) But she did look super sweet on the phone. (I think the guy at the reception must have had a laugh) Good morning everyone! Hungry? If so there are plenty of hot and cold choices to enjoy at Gillrays – and we did not not leave the hotel on an empty stomach! My favourite – delicious Eggs Benedict! I wasn’t really ready to leave Marriott County Hall Hotel, as we were having an amazing time. But all good things come to an end One last photo for the road – I will never ever get tired of the view from this place. We will for sure be back! I would like to thank Marriott Country Hall Hotel for letting us enjoy the VIK Package!
