Autumn has officially arrived in London… Being Danish I am a big fan of “hygge”… I love everything cosy, comfortable and romantic! Having enjoyed a lot of “cosy and comfortable” lately, Frenchie and I decided it was time to do a bit of “romantic”. Luckily I knew the perfect place. We called our babysitter – and off we went into the city…
Welcome to Aqua Nueva – a gorgeous innovative and contemporary Spanish restaurant in the heart of London’s West End, Regent Street!
Bonusinfo: Aqua Nueva is part of Aqua Restaurant Group. It is placed on the 5th floor of a stunning Art Deco building with a terrace overlooking the best parts of London including Hyde Park and the River Thames
Inside you will find Aqua Nueva and sister restaurant Aqua Kyoto… We were warmly accompanied to Aqua Nueva…
– and greeted by a blue Spanish Bull!
I fell in love with the restaurant immediately. The interior consisted of vibrant gold, browns and burgundy with bright lighting creating the right tones to set the mood of the cuisine. The bar was perfectly situated in the middle of the room – and I was very excited to try out some of their famous cocktails
It was raining that evening – and the terrace was rather dark. We did however manage to get a photo and as you can see, it is quite an outstanding view you get from the rooftop terrace. I can easily imagine myself sitting here on a summer evening sipping cocktails and eating tapas…
Trying to capture the beauty of this place is not easy in the dark, but I promise, you wont be disappointed when entering the roof top terrace!
Time for cocktails and starters. Frenchie and I had the best cocktails, I have been served for a long time. I enjoyed a “Sweet Escape” (was highly recommend and I understand why), and Frenchie went for the “Missionary Downfall”. They were really exquisite, and I will probably have the same again, when I come back…
The design in Aqua Nueva really is striking! We were super cosy in our little “sanctuary” and the food speaks for itself… Beautifully presented and tasted heavenly
Pimientos de padrón, Patatas bravas, Oxtail and avocado empanadas served with crunchy tacos with cheese with a spicy twist. It was so delicious…
Our lovely waiter knew, that I am mostly into white wine, so she served us a bottle, that I will not forget! I usually don’t drink a lot of wine – but this one… Let’s just say, that we were in a good mood, when we left Aqua Nueva! (and the bottle was empty!)
Nowhere else I want to be than right here with Frenchie, good food and wine!
The next serving was just as amazing as the first…
Delicious Iberico pork pinchos with avocado
Even more delicious Beef short rib with potato gratin and chimichurri
– and gorgeous crispy baby artichoke with gordal olives and 10.5 spicy aubergine
For desserts we had a beautiful seasonal berry salad with hibiscus sorbet – but the winner was the pistachio churros with dark chocolate sauce… We could easily have eaten ten each (That’s how good they were) Still dreaming of these! Sublime!
Regent Street in the rain! How I just love my city! Even on a rainy autumn evening you take my breath away!
Aqua Nueva is a lovely mix of Spanish culture and London glamour. It offers tapas with an elegant fine-dining twist, and the A la Carte selection of tapas is just perfect. We didn’t go for seafood this time – but we certainly will the next. (I have heard that the octopus should be out of this world!)
We were kindly invited to Aqua Nueva – All opinions are my own
