I can’t believe that it has been so long since I last wrote on my blog…
This is the place, where it all started for me, when I moved to London almost 8 years ago. With a background as a Journalist, Online Editor and TV Presenter in my old hometown, Copenhagen, I missed writing – and that was the beginning of “Louiseloveslondon”.
Instagram became more and more popular, and at some point I decided that this was enough for me. The thing about Instagram is however, that content is short-lived and not an evergreen like a blog-post. There are still many people asking, why I did not continue writing on my blog. So I decided to come back, and this post is all about where my family and I have been travelling the last 2 years. ( I will try to keep it short!)
Denmark… The place, I was born, and the place I will keep on coming back to, as most of my family live her.
My mother has a summerhouse in Jutland by the sea. We love visiting and getting a fresh dose of “vitamin sea”. This is Clara with her older cousin Ines eating fresh peas in the sun
The Nordic Sea… Reincarnation for body and soul. It might be a bit windy, but I am Viking, so I am used to it!
When visiting Jutland, you should definitely take your kids to the original Legoland Billund.
Yes, Lego is Danish and us Danes are very proud of it When I was a child, my parents took me here, and now I can take Clara. It makes me nostalgic visiting, as it brings back so many fond memories…
Western Europe (two times) with P&O Cruises… (How lucky are we!)
P&O Cruises has spoilt us a lot the last two years. We have travelled with them many times now and I love cruise-life. The latest cruises was with Frenchie and Clara, and another was with my mother and Clara. My mother has been seriously ill and to celebrate her recovery, we decided to go 3 generations on a cruise – and it was an excellent idea
What I love about cruises is, that there is something for everyone..
No matter the age, there is always something to do on a cruise. The kids club was perfect for Clara, and she really wanted to go again and again to see the new friends she met onboard the ship. This gave me time to relax with my mother and have a spa-treatment or a cocktail with the most stunning views you can dream of.
To name just a few of the places, that we visited on both cruises, this is Gibraltar (where we bought loads of tax-free goodies)
Malaga… The stunning capital of Costa Del Sol. We went on a guided tour and enjoyed listening to the impressive history of this old city and enjoyed tapas with flamenco dancing
Two nights in Barcelona… One of my favourite European cities
This is me in front of Gaudi’s magnificent La Sagrada Família – the undisputed symbol of Barcelona and a must-see, when visiting
Another must-visit when in Spain… Cadiz
I honestly did not know a lot about Cadiz, but we all fell completely in love with the oldest city in Western Europe. Cadiz has a rich and cultural heritage (and the tapas here is the best I have ever had!)
Moving on to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal … The place I will never ever get tired of visiting!
This is what I love about a cruise. You get to see SO many places within a short time. And if there is a place that you really like, then you can book a longer stay, when you come home and return for a longer time. Lisbon is one of those places that I would like to get to know better. It really is a stunning city, the food is amazing and there is so much to see
Blending in…
Porto also took our breath away and is another city in Portugal that is on my wishlist to come back to.
Look at Clara, she almost look like a little señorita in this photo…
Last, but not least, Guernsey…
Guernsey is the second largest in the Channel Islands. We loved the stunning beaches, the rugged cliffs and the lively capital of St. Peter Port. Guernsey has a rich Anglo-French heritage and culture, so we decided to take a tour with a guide to learn as much as possible before heading back to our ship
Enough about cruises. This is Tenerife and we stayed at Bahia Principe Fantasia!
Ahhh, Clara really loved this place. What a dream for kids! An all-inclusive resort full of dreams and magic. The kids club here was great and in spite of being very family-friendly, it was luxurious as well. These two things don’t always go hand in hand, but here it worked! I was pleased!
It was windy the week, we were there (January), but we still had enough of sunshine to enjoy the pool(s)
If you are looking for a winter-break in the sun with little ones, where the adults are spoiled too (Kids clubs and a luxurious spa), this is the place
More summer and sun. Here we are in Cannes with Pierre et Vacances
Pierre et Vacances are huge in France, and what I love about them is the affordable price and the great locations. We stayed very close to Cannes and lived in an apartment, so we could make our own food and go out to eat, whenever we felt like it
Did you know that Grace Kelly still lives in Cannes… Ahremm
Ice cream, olives, Aperol Spritz and Pastis for Frenchie.. Life is good in Cannes!
Cannes old town
Another favourite photo of my little Clara. May you always feel the sunlight surrounding you
– And just like that.. Frenchie and I got married (it only took us 7 years)
Our wedding was very small and intimate. Our honeymoon was all, that we could ever dream off. Sandals had kindly invited us to stay a week at their newest resort in Jamaica “Sandals Dunn’s River’
This luxurious resort was seriously out of this world. It is an adults-only, so it was perfect for us “honeymooners”
Sandals Dunn’s River is an all-inclusive resort with 12 fine dining restaurants, 9 bars including swim-up bars, butler-service in some of the rooms (we had our own butler in our sky-pool suite, and he was amazing!) We really didn’t have to do anything except enjoying ourselves – and if we needed something, we just called our butler on the “butler-phone’ and he was there! I mean… dreams really do come true!
The coffee-bar at Sandals Dunn’s River was super popular. Jamaicans know how to make coffee (and home-made banana bread) SO good!
Welcome to the Skypool Suite… If you want to see more, there are A LOT of stories in highlights on my Instagram page
2024 is looking great, so far. My family and I have a few press trips coming up, and I will share our adventures here on the blog as well as on Instagram (Verbier and Alsace is confirmed). If you have any questions about the trips, that are mentioned in this blog post, feel free to write them in comments
