Christmas isn’t Christmas for me without a lot of delicious things to eat and drink… Being Danish, I was brought up in a home with many lovely Christmas traditions! One of them was enjoying plenty of homemade Mulled wine (or Danish Glögg, as we call it) during the festive season

In this blog post, I am going to spoil you with a potent winter brew of gorgeous mulled wine using lots of flavours and fragrances as well as a cast iron casserole, a Limited Edition Neon Yellow Premium Classic Zester and an Adjustable V-Blade Slicer with Julienne Feature from Microplane

Ingredients: 750 Rioja or other red wine, 60ml Brandy, Cinnamon sticks, 2 Oranges, Cloves, Star anise, Bay leaves, Crushed peppercorns, 1 crushed vanilla pod, 750g soft, brown sugar, (mixed raisins and nuts)

Put all the ingredients into your cast iron casserole/ heavy bottomed pan…

Cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, cloves, star anise and crushed vanilla pod… Smells amazing!

Time to slice to oranges… I love my new Adjustable V-Blade Slicer with Julienne Feature from Microplane! It is a really amazing tool and so easy to use!

The Adjustable V-Blade Slicer with Julienne Feature is the latest meticulously engineered kitchen tool from Microplane  with two cutting options. It is ultra-sharp and very precise! It has a clever reversible deck, so all you need to do is to flip the deck over, if you wish to switch from slices to Julienne strips. What I really love about this product is, that you can select your own thickness – from paper-thin to thick! Just brilliant!

Tip: I recommend that you use the Microplane Universal Hand Guard (which is included), when working with the V-Blade Slicer! The Hand Guard can be used on both hands and keeps your fingers safe, when slicingI (If you prefer, you could choose to wear Microplane’s protective glove instead)

Bonus-info: You can also use the Adjustable V-Blade with Julienne Feature for slicing cucumber, courgette, onion, cheese and tomato for sandwiches and burger toppings and the Julienne with celery, celeriac, apples, pears and peppers to create colourful, nutritious salads, coleslaw, chips, poke bowls and stir fries

The Non-Slip Foot protects the worktop while cutting and the Bowl Anchors providing stability when grating vertically over pans or bowls

A bit of brandy to keep me warm (this is important for us Danes, as we live in a cold country)

Ladies and Gentlemen… Here is one of my favourite kitchen tools – the Microplane Neon Yellow Limited Edition Premium Classic Zester

The Premium Classic Zester Grater is characteristically long and narrow. What makes it so special is, that the foods are precisely cut and not crushed. You honestly won’t find a similar tool anywhere as fast and effective, when it comes to grating incredibly fine citrus peel (as well as hard cheeses, ginger, garlic, oranges, spices, chocolate, truffles, nuts and so much more

Almost done. Now you need to let your casserole simmer on low heat until the sugar is fully resolved

Just before serving, strain the liquid. Stir and pour into heat-proof glasses to serve…

I’m so happy that my mother handed over this lovely classic Mulled Wine/ Glögg family recipe, so I can pass it onto my daughter as well. Christmas might be different this year, so it is important to hold on to something that brings back lovely memories

My Christmas Tree… I just couldn’t help myself decorating it early this year… I just love Christmas!
