There is a place in London, that is dear to my heart! It is a stylish and yet cosy cocktail bar located in Hyatt Regency London – and it is called The Churchill! The Churchill is conveniently situated near many of the popular streets of London, which is why it is the perfect place to take a break after a few hours of stressful Christmas shopping!
The beautiful Hyatt Regency London The Churchill is to be found in Portman Square! I have not had the pleasure of staying here – but I certainly wouldn’t mind trying it! I love everything about this hotel!
Before entering the bar, I took a look around in the lobby! Everything here is obviously designed to honour Sir Winston Churchill: Bespoke tailoring, refined décor, and subtle nods to his life and legacy
What I didn’t know was, that it was Mr Churchill’s birthday the day, I was visiting! (Shame on me!)
At first my friend and I were so busy taking photos, so we didn’t even notice this fine gentleman standing very still, while we were busy looking at the beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby. But then I suddenly realised …“It is Mr Churchill himself!” At first I thought, that it was a ghost, but luckily it was only Madame Tussauds who had kindly let Mr Churchill visit the hotel for a couple of days, before he was to go back to the wax museum again
Welcome to the bar! I have been here many times – and I can honestly say, that I have never left disappointed! With an award-winning menu and heated outdoor seasonally-themed terrace, The Churchill is the perfect place to unwind with beautiful cocktails and delicious light bites in a chic setting!
What I like about this place is, that you are allowed to bring children (but only until 4pm!) Out of respect for other guests visiting, I would probably not choose to bring a bunch of cheeky rascals, but Clara is “still” well-behaved, so there were no problems
Clara was enjoying the story about her “name-sister” Clara’s Christmas adventures in “The Nutcracker” – and mummy and her friend were enjoying a cocktail by the fireplace!
Luxe décor, bookshelves (curated by Daunt Books), original photographs and love letters adorning the walls, alongside the famous Jock, Rufus, and Pig
Bonus-info: The Churchill offers craft cocktails (many made with their very own Churchill Craft Gin), homemade tonics, premium spirits, fine wines and all the classics
The menu card offers something for everyone! I love finger-food, so we decided to order a selection of light bites…
Beautiful, isn’t it? A selection of light bites served with a glass of Sancerre Blanc Les Caillottes for me and red South African Holden Manz Big G for my friend
Smoked salmon and cream cheese on blinis
Heavenly duck foie gras dome, confit orange on white toast
The ones I always end up ordering… Super tasty mini croque monsieurs! Tip: They really are “mini”, so I would order one dish for each person!
Another favourite of mine and a must-have!: Mini aged beef burgers, mature cheddar, tomato relish, gherkin and lettuce!
– served with crunchy sweet potatoes!
The winter garden is one of the reasons, why this place is very, very popular! It is actually known, as one of the most “Instagrammable” places in London! I love it here! Worth knowing: There is a £30 minimum per person required after 4:00 p.m. on the terrace. (Booking is advised but not essential)
– When your lipstick matches your dress…
I had the pleasure of enjoying my coffee and dessert next to a life-size bronze of a young Churchill…
For dessert we had the vegan trio: Coconut macaroon, mango sorbet, passion fruit and cheesecake. (It was delicious!)
– but my favourite was these Baileys truffles… I still dream of them! I was so in love with them, that I ate a few before remembering, that I had to take a photo first! Ooops!
Charmed by Mr Churchill himself! We enjoyed celebrating the birthday of this legend, politician, statesman, army officer, writer and hero at one of my favourite places in London!
We were invited as guests to The Churchill Bar and Terrace! All opinions are as always my own!
It looks so lovely! I could imagine being on the terrace snugged up and trying those fabulous cocktails and delicious small plates!
You guys need to visit this place! Knowing your taste for “luxurious experiences”, this is a must-visit 😀

It took everything I had not to sit in Mr Churchill’s lap when I went. I think you should have Louise, he would have been very happy. It’s such a cosy, beautiful place, and you’re right, it’s perfect for resting weary feet after some hectic Christmas shopping. Wonderful to see Clara behaving so beautifully too. She is definitely going to be a social butterfly like her mummy!
Next time we have to go together, Scarlett! It is so much easier bringing Clara now, that she has become older (and more well-behaved) 😀

PS: Clara is a good girl – but she has her naughty moments as well 😀
Last time I went to the Hyatt Regency it was to dine there – the food and drink is really excellent isn’t it! And I love those pics of little Clara!
I am a big fan of Hyatt… Need to visit again for more luxurious experiences!
Thank you for the sweet words regarding Clara. She truly is out little miracle!

The Churchill Bar looks like a gracious place to spend a few hours away from the busy city streets. And those mini croque monsieurs would be impossible to resist.
It is a lovely place indeed! 🙂
