Summer in Chelsea… When the sun is out in London, it truly is a magnificent place to be! If you haven’t been to Chelsea yet, it is definitely worth a visit. This Saturday Clara, Frenchie and I were on a special mission… We were going to do a bit of shopping and then have dinner at Hans Bar & Grill – a wonderful all-day dining restaurant located at the very stylish and cosy Pavilion Road

Behind a very happy Clara you can get a glimpse of the Farmers Market, which showcases area-sourced produce, meats and artisanal goods…

Maybe a “left-over” from “The RHS Chelsea Flower Show“, which is the world’s greatest flower show revealing cutting-edge garden design and fabulous floral displays (It usually runs in May)

If you go to Chelsea you should definitely check out the shops. This is one of London’s most affluent and fashionable neighbourhoods, and the boutiques along Kings Road are “as manicured as the residents”. Duke of York Square is home to one of Europe’s largest Zara stores and I absolutely love the Saturday Farmers market. For high-end jewellery and designer clothing go to Sloane Street, which is home to Cartier, Tiffany & Co, Prada, Hermes and more

After a bit of shopping, we were hungry and went to Pavilion Road to find Hans Bar & Grill...

Clara fell in love with the lovely Hans Bar & Grill patio and her new friend… We did however decide to eat inside, even though the weather was lovely

Ahhhh! Bloody Mary for me! The cocktail menu here is all new! The drinks look delicious, the variation good and Frenchie was very pleased with the reasonable prices!

Bonus-info: Hans Bar & Grill is part of 11 Cadogan Gardens – a 5-star boutique hotel and a proud member of Relais & Châteaux. In the Summer of 2018 the hotel opened Hans’ Bar & Grill and set out to deliver a delicious all-day service in a calm and rejuvenating oasis like setting. Head Chef, Rowen Babe, has a great appreciation for local produce, something learned in his native New Zealand. All of the menus, from breakfast to brunch, lunch and dinner, are rooted in British produce and underpinned by Rowen and classically skilled brigade

I know… Not the best photo – but I can tell you, that everything on the menu card looked really great. Want to know, the choices? Read more here

I am going to say this right away, as it is one of the most important features of a restaurant, when you bring little ones, (and you don’t get to see this a lot)… Clara could have ANYTHING on the menu in kids size! I mean… How amazing is that!

I asked the lovely waitress, if there was a kids menu, and she replied “Yes, sure – whatever she wants from the menu, we can make in “mini”” That is seriously impressive! Clara had a small burger with fries…

– and as you can see, she was very, very pleased! ( I am still impressed by the way! 5 stars to Hans Bar & Grill for being so child-friendly)

Speaking of child-friendly… At some point, Clara was being a bit impatient with our food-feast (the food was so good), so she was all over the place. I started making excuses, but the restaurant manager Enrico (being Italian and all that), said to me “No, no, no, no stop! In Italy we always bring kids. They are part of the family! If you don’t bring Clara next time, I will not let you in” I laughed so much and felt relieved… Forza azzura! Thank you, Enrico!

Our starters… I don’t know, where to begin… Everything we had was heavenly! Even our neighbour at the table next to us,  told the waiter, that he could hear us praise the food constantly. Another moment of laughter!

Starters: Cauliflower wings with spicy Korean sauce, sesame, coriander and crispy shallots ( I would never have chosen this dish, but it was highly recommended and for sure my first choice next time I visit! Just wow)

Aged beef tataki. Soy cured egg, crispy sweet potato, ponzu and pickled shimeji mushroom

Portland crab. Avocado, mayonnaise, Clarence Court eggs, coriander and sourdough toast

Already here we had completely fallen in love with the menu – and the party hadn’t even started yet…

The main menu is served… We had Pan fried Loch Duart salmon with fregola sarda, cherry tomato, bisque and mussels and 28-day aged ribeye steak 250g with salad, fries and blue cheese sauce with a few side orders (I still dream of that blue cheese sauce)

Did I mention the blue cheese sauce?

Can I taste the “Moules’, daddy? Clara is such a Curious George!

Because the staff treated us like royalty, they also let us have a little pre-taste from the brand new menu card – a chef’s special… Yup, its a winner!

For dessert we had a marvellous dark chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream…

 – and I decided to try the vegan lime and coconut cheesecake with sour berries and toasted coconut

To be honest I am not a “vegan’ type (if that’s the right word), but this one was out of this world… There is something about the saying “You can’t judge food, without tasting it” Delicious! Just delicious. Clara had a big scoop of strawberry ice-cream and her sugar level went up, which is why, I didn’t manage to take a photo of her. She was too busy charming Enrico! (giggles)

Before saying good-buy, Enrico showed us how beautiful 11 Cadogan Gardens really is…

Stunning… Isn’ t it?

It might not look like it from these photos, but 11 Cadogan Gardens is also a family friendly hotel… I know for a fact, that they have a great “kids stay free” offer at the moment… So they do take good care of their little “V.I.P”s – which is certainly also the impression Frenchie and I had, when we dined at Hans Bar & Grill

The Chelsea Bar at 11 Cadogan Gardens. Decadent and seductive… I love it

We were invited as guests to Hans Bar & Grill. All opinions are as always my own
