It was raining cats and dogs yesterday… I really didn’t feel like going out! However there is a place in London, where you can go shopping for the nicest food ever – AND it has a roof! This place is called Borough Market, and let me tell you, it is VERY popular! If you take a look at my post, you will know why! Lets go!

As you can see, it was quite rainy and foggy, but I still had the most beautiful view to Tower Bridge from London Bridge

Frenchie and I took the district line to Monument and after a quick walk with great views, you will reach Borough Market!

If you choose to go on a Saturday, bring your patience! There are a LOT of people here – but it is definitely worth it

Borough Market has existed for around 1.000 years. You will mainly find gourmet food in more than 100 stalls and stands. I find it so exciting to meet and buy food from producers from all over the country, who bring a range of fresh products to the market, including fish, meats, vegetables, ciders, cheeses, breads, coffees, cakes and patisseries (other stalls specialise in produce imported from abroad)

I found some delicious rye-bread here! (not always easy for a Dane to get yummies, that reminds her of home)

TIP: Bring cash! Some don’t accept credit cards!

Frenchie is having a closer look at the fresh fish selection!

Being true cheese-addicts we ended up buying comté, gruyere, truffle brie, fresh mozzarella and award winning specialities! (Let´s just say, that the cheese-monger was very happy, when we left with half of his stall)

Olives in all shapes and sizes

The thing I haven’t mentioned yet is, that Borough Market is also the place to go for excellent street food! It is my impression, that many people come here to taste the lovely dishes, that is being served!

Besides from little bars, there is a baking school and taste-explosions from all over the world

This is a serious amount of Spanish meatballs!

Just what you need on a cold autumn day!

Frenchie and I went for wraps with lamb and falaffel (and some wine)

Difficult to eat – but really, really delicious!

You will meet this little charity coffee van many places around in London. I love the concept of helping homeless people!

Want to spice up your life! Go ahead.. Have a sniff or a taste!

Last but not least, you can even find pretty, countryside beauties to create the perfect dinner!

I really hope, that this post inspired you to go and have a look at Borough Market! I always enjoy being here (in spite of the popularity)

Frenchie and I bought a lot of yummy things for a perfect candlelight dinner at home! And sometimes staying in on a rainy evening with wine and good food is the best choice in spite of living in vivid London!
