“An experience of a lifetime!” These are the first words, that come to my mind, when thinking about our amazing weekend on board “Matrix Island”…

I had no idea, that a place like this existed! Forgot about the usual dark and dingo canal boat interiors “Matrix Island” dispels all misconceptions and proves that life on the water can be super luxurious and stylish. The 1930s steel barge has been converted to the highest standards, offering contemporary design with a modern twist. The stunning houseboat can be found in East London’s prestigious and very pretty St Katherine Docks Marina. Come and let me take you there…

St Katherine Dock…You can spot “Matrix Island “in the far left corner behind famous pub The Dickens Inn

The 130-foot long mega-home offers one of the most coveted views of London’s Tower Bridge, boasts 5,000 square foot of living space (When I found out, how big it actually is, I immediately regretted not having invited my entire family! Next time for sure!

Before showing you this stunning houseboat, I should probably tell you, that you can have the exact same experience as we just had! “Matrix Island” can be rented by hospitality provider ALTIDO (A Life that I Dream of). ALTIDO manages Airbnbs, serviced apartments, hotels, stately homes and private residences across Europe, so there is plenty to choose from!

Welcome inside Matrix Island! Jaw-dropping, isn’t it?

Bonus-info: The barge was originally used to cruise up and down the River Seine in Paris before being renovated into a luxury home!

Now, this is what I call a sea-view! We spent so much time in this super comfy and cosy sofa looking at the other boats, birds and tranquil water

I am loving all the “white”. Nothing dark and dull about this houseboat! Just pure luxury!

“Matrix Island” has an extensive, open-plan upper deck including a vast reception, kitchen and dining area…

I think Frenchie and Clara were more than ready to stay here on a more permanent basis! How can you not fall in love with this place!

There is also an enclosed winter garden, which makes the most of the waterside views… Clara had so much fun playing here, and it was actually heated, so no cold feet

A central atrium and stairway lead down to the lower deck which houses three bathrooms that are shared by five large double bedrooms

Bonus-info: The original owners were keen to retain a link to its rich French history and used recycled sails as door frames as well as sourcing the staircase from a Renault car factory. How cool is that?

Got to love the decorative fireplace

These are just a few of the stunning bedrooms, you will find on “The Matrix”. Everything here is shiny and clean and there was fresh bedlinen and towels in every room

All of the bathrooms were gorgeous with heating and beautiful details

This made me giggle, but should of course be taken very seriously!

Need to do some laundry? No problem!

And of course, there is a sauna as well! I told you this is the most luxurious houseboat, I have ever seen!

Bonus-info: Guests will have access to the entire boathouse. A member of ALTIDO London will always be on hand to check you in, provide you with at least one set of keys and give you a tour of the property. There is also a 24 hours help service in case you need to get in touch with ALTIDO

Evening at St Katherine Dock! So beautiful! Dining recommendations include Bravas Tapas for Spanish cuisine, Smiths of Wapping and The Melusine for fresh seafood, The Dickens Inn and The Captain Kidd for a quintessentially English pub experience and Traders Wine Bar

We decided to eat at Cafe Rouge… Frenchie had Moules Frites! His face reveals the verdict! Happy!

“At home” we jumped in our lounge wear, made ourselves a cup of tea and had the most cosy and wonderful evening in a long time. I already miss this place so much

Good Morning… The swans were outside the boat most of the time and made our stay even more idyllic

It was a rainy day… But this is London, so you just need to dress for it!

Bonus-info: St Katharine Docks is located on the River Thames. Attractions nearby include the Tower of London, a River cruise from St Katherine Pier and the Tower Bridge Experience. The view along the River Thames speaks for itself! There’s plenty to do around here!

London’s iconic castle and World Heritage Site Tower of London

The Tower of London Shop… The perfect gift shop for little knights and princesses

Not a fan of the rain? Old Spitalfields Market is only a short walk away!

Old Spitalfields Market is a covered market in Spitalfields. There has been a market on the site for over 350 years. A range of public markets runs daily, with independent local stores and restaurants – as well as new office developments. I love coming here for amazing street food…

 -and for heavenly donuts

Will you look at the size of these donuts. Almost as big as Clara’s head! She was pleased!

How every Sunday should be spend…

Our dinner that evening was just the perfect ending to a wonderful stay! One of my favourite restaurants Sticks n’ Sushi had kindly gifted us with an epic selection of the most extraordinary dishes! We enjoyed everything from maki, nigiri, small dishes, salads, yakitori skewers and Clara had her own kids menu! If you love sushi, this is the place to go!
