When The Milestone Hotel invited us to become the very first media family to experience its newly unveiled Family Suite, we couldn’t wait to see what they had created. Having visited the hotel before for one of my favourite afternoon teas in London, I already knew how special The Milestone was. This time, however, we were about to discover a completely different side of the hotel…

Standing directly opposite Kensington Palace in the heart of Kensington, overlooking Kensington Gardens and just moments from the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Knightsbridge, The Milestone enjoys one of London’s most prestigious addresses. During our stay, we were given an exclusive first look at the hotel’s beautiful new Family Suite, designed to redefine luxury family stays in the capital

It was love at first sight for Clara… Her very own room all to herself
The moment Clara discovered she had an entire children’s retreat to herself, complete with a bespoke, custom-made bunk bed designed especially for the suite and her own bathroom, her face completely lit up. It was every child’s dream room and quickly became her favourite part of our stay

The Milestone’s newly unveiled Family Suite has been created with modern family travel at its heart. Rather than simply adapting a traditional hotel room with extra beds, the hotel has thoughtfully designed a suite where parents and children can enjoy quality time together while still having their own private space…

One of the things I loved most about the layout was how cleverly it had been planned. The elegant parents’ bedroom connects seamlessly to the dedicated children’s retreat, allowing families to stay together while still enjoying their own privacy

Deluxe Mini Bar (with lots of snacks for every age!)

Every detail has been carefully considered, from the treats to tailored family amenities to the intelligent layout, creating a luxurious space that feels just as practical as it is beautiful.

Clara absolutely loved the bathtub – another favourite part of her stay with lots of laughter, bubbles and very little desire to get out again…

While the Family Suite is undoubtedly impressive, what really makes The Milestone stand out is the way children are welcomed…

Throughout our stay, Clara was made to feel every bit as important as the adult guests. She loved taking part in a mocktail-making class and decorating her own cupcakes, and she couldn’t wait to fill in her children’s passport by meeting members of staff throughout the hotel

What we will remember most from our stay at The Milestone Hotel is the warmth of the people. Within just a few hours, Clara had become great friends with Steve, the wonderful doorman, who greeted her with the biggest smile every time we returned to the hotel

Dining is another highlight of a stay at The Milestone. The award-winning Cheneston’s Restaurant showcases beautifully executed seasonal British cuisine with a dedicated children’s menu…

– while The Park Lounge is home to one of London’s most elegant afternoon teas

I have been lucky enough to enjoy afternoon tea at The Milestone before, and I can honestly say it is one of my favourites in London. Beautifully presented, impeccably served and wonderfully traditional, it’s an experience I’d happily recommend whether you’re staying at the hotel or simply looking for a special afternoon in Kensington. We arrived excited to be the first media family invited to experience The Milestone’s beautiful new Family Suite, but we left talking about something far more memorable – the people
Seeing Clara run through the doors in the morning to say hello to Steve, or making her way to the bar for another chat and a mocktail, perfectly captured what makes this hotel so special. Luxury is about more than beautiful interiors and exceptional facilities; it’s about making guests feel genuinely cared for, and that’s exactly what The Milestone does so effortlessly.
Looking back, it wasn’t just the beautiful Family Suite that made this stay so memorable—it was how effortlessly The Milestone combines luxury with genuine warmth. We can’t wait to return

Bonus-info:
While the new Family Suite is an exciting addition, The Milestone itself has a remarkable story.
Originally built as a grand private residence in the late 19th century, the building was once home to nobles, diplomats and distinguished residents before becoming a hotel in 1922. Following a fire in 1991, it was lovingly restored, preserving its beautiful historic façade and roof before joining the Red Carnation Hotels collection in 1998.
Today, stepping through the front doors feels less like checking into a hotel and more like arriving at an elegant private London residence. Rich interiors, timeless British charm and highly personalised service create an atmosphere that’s both luxurious and wonderfully welcoming. It’s easy to understand why guests return year after year.
Its location couldn’t be better. With Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens directly opposite, and the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge and some of London’s finest shopping just a short stroll away, it’s the perfect base for discovering one of the capital’s most beautiful neighbourhoods.
