I love shopping! Especially in London, where you can get more or less everything you want! But sometimes shopping can be a bit exhausting – and you get to a point, where you just want to escape all the hustle and bustle! It was only recently that I found out, that this escape actually exist, and even better – it is placed in the middle of Oxford Street! Believe or not, it is on the roof of John Lewis

The roof of John Lewis on Oxford Street has been transformed into a British summer garden with a very small pub and restaurant!

Oxford Street – you either love it or you find it too busy! But there are some really nice department stores in this area – and when it rains, which it often does in London, these are the places I go to for shelter and shopping!

In front of John Lewis on Oxford street. The flagship store was opened by John Lewis himself in 1864 and today there are 46 stores throughout England, Scotland and Wales. On 1 January 2008, the Oxford Street store was awarded a Royal Warrant from Her Majesty the Queen as: “Suppliers of haberdashery and household goods”

I was very excited to visit The Gardening Society! For someone who takes a lot of interest in what’s going on in London, I must say that this came as a quite a surprise for me!

Finding my way up to the roof! You will meet the nicest people showing you directions on how to get here! The service was impressive!

Here we are! Let’s take a look around!

This is “The Gardener’s Arms” – described as the UK’s smallest rooftop pub at just 6ft by 8ft (unfortunately it was closed, but I will be back for sure) Just adorable!

The roof’s restaurant is run by a rotating line-up of restaurants and street food stalls. When we were there it was Fitzrovia’s Foley’s, who made sure we were taken good care of

As well as food and drink, the Gardening Society also hosts a full schedule of events throughout the summer, including gardening masterclasses, wellbeing workshops, yoga, design workshops and tea parties

Plants and herbs everywhere you go, a bird feeding wall along with a set of summerhouses surrounded by white picket fences. Frenchie and I felt like we had stepped into another world!

The adorable summerhouses each have their own design theme

You need to book one of the summerhouses in advance! They are very popular – and I can understand why! The weather was nice the day, we were visiting, but if you get cold, there is a heater inside – and even better…

A buzzer for service! I really wanted to try it again and again – but our waiter was too fast for me! Can’t complain about the service!

I was looking at the menu card…

– and Frenchie was looking at… birds?

Our waiter, Vaggelis, making sure we had everything we needed!

Two beautiful glasses of wine – and the food just kept coming!

My favourite: Charcoal grilled chicken thigh ‘ends’, korean BBQ, spring onions and sesame seeds

Veggie special taco: Tempura aubergine, burned jalapeño, asparagus, kohlrabi, feta and poppy seeds

Sticky Beef, avocado lime puree, daikon and cucumber somtam

Pork Belly, tamarin BBQ, swede vermicelli, apple, buttermilk and cashews

Frenchies favourite: Slow Cooked Octopus, black sesame, mayo, spicy pork mince, bok choy, housemade srirasha

And a beautiful Goan Crab with crab salad, crab bisque, crispy shallots and dill! I was so full, that I could hardly walk, but words can not describe how amazingly good it all tasted!

It was time to leave the beautifully decorated summerhouse…

I had been inspired by the John Lewis catalogue

And now it was time to go shopping!!!

Beautiful summer dresses and tops by Somerset

Lauren by Ralph Lauren has always been a favourite of mine. Classy and chic!

And I certainly wouldn’t mind a new Barbour jacket –  I just love this brand!

How about visiting the Bobby Brown team! A favourite of mine is the smokey eye mascara!

Laura Mercier has a great selection of radiance products. The foundation primer is simply a must-have!

Molton Brown  – London’s bath, body & beauty connoisseurs

No doubt, that we are in London… Perfect for visitors!

I have said it before – and I will say it again! I need a float flamingo or swan in my life!

Frenchie could spend hours here! He loves kitchen gear and I loved the pink Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer

Retrostyle cake tins

Good thing my birthday is coming up soon!

For the sweet tooth…

And for the chef…

Someone once told me, that they have cookies on the dark side. Not really sure I believe it though…

I would like to thank the John Lewis team for inviting me to their Gardening Society! Frenchie and I had a splendid time – and I am sure you will too! If you are in the area, you really should go and take a look! It is quite spectacular up there!
