“A girl should be two things: Classy and fabulous”! (Coco Chanel)

Yes, Ladies… It is time to rock down to fashion avenue Bond Street in London. This is the ultimate luxury shopping area in my favourite city – and the place, where Frenchie often hear me say “but Darling, I’m not a shopaholic – I’m just helping the economy!” (I’m not really sure, that he is convinced by my persuasion skills)

Since its foundation in 1700, Bond Street has been a playground for society’s wealthiest, most stylish and influential people. Walking down the street you will find elegant stores, exclusive brands, designer fashion, luxury goods, fine jewels, art and antiques

Now, I’m not going to show you all the stores (because that will make your inner fashionista go crazy – and it might end up in a catastrophic financial disaster), so today we are heading towards my favourite place of them all… Chanel!

A sneak peek into my private collection of double C’s

This blogpost wasn’t actually that easy for me to do, because many Bond Street stores do NOT allow you to take pictures inside (I almost got kicked out in Gucci, when they found me taking pictures of a pair of shoes with my beloved Leica camera)  However, I know some people in Chanel, so they let me take a few shots (and then I pretended, that I was writing a message on my phone, when I was actually taking undercover pictures!)

123-31

This is a really big Chanel store, so you can basically get everything from their collection! Merry Christmas to me!

123-12

Pink passion! Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance!

123-15

It seems like pink is the colour of the season in Chanel! It certainly brightens up a cold winter day in London!

123-16

I can’t get enough of this beautiful Flapper Bag! Its so delicious, that I almost wanted to taste it!

I don’t know, if any of you have seen the movie “Coco before Chanel” with the lovely Audrey Tautou in the leading role. Basically it tells the story of Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel’s rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world, and I think the movie captures her soul quite well. Coco Chanel was known for her lifelong determination, ambition and energy.

I dont do fashion, I am fashion!” (Coco Chanel)

With her strong will to change fashion, Coco basically liberated women from the constraints of the “corseted silhouette”and made a sporty, casual chic look the feminine standard of style (thank God for that! It is actually quite nice to be able to breathe in your outfits!)

123-9

Little black dress with a classic Chanel necklace! My favourite Christmas look!

123-30

Classy Chanel ballerinas (I am the proud owner of the black version, and they are SO comfortable!)

123-28

The ultimate New Year’s Eve stilettos

123-29

Perfect shoes for work!

123-6

The must have winter boots of the year!

Believe it or not, Chanel hasn’t always been a popular brand. Actually it was nearly dying, when current Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld took over in the early 80s.

Once upon a time Chanel was an old hat. It was only Parisian doctor’s wives who still wore it. Nobody wanted it. it was hopeless”, Lagerfeld said after his first collection for the fashionhouse in 1983. But King Karl succeeded in doing a revival of an old play, and today Chanel is probably the most famous designer brand in the world

123-19

The service in Chanel is impeccable! Here I am having a cup of cappuccino, while waiting for my new necklace to be nicely gift-wrapped in black and white.

123-24

Frenchie is taking a closer look at, what might become my Christmas present (I hope!)

123-5

Bags, bags, bags – in all shapes and sizes! J’adore!

123-18

Im not really sure about this one though! A day out in rainy London might ruin it for good!

123-7

I am however completely in love with the red Boy Bag…

123

So of course I had to take a closer look trying to convince Frenchie about the necessity of this piece of art in my life!

123-8

Classic winter style!

123-25

This one made me laugh a lot! Don’t say that King Karl doesn’t have humour! Perfect for a foodie like me!

123-22

Please, take a seat, while the nice lady finds goodies for bonvivants in the hidden gems!

123-11

Just beautiful! Nothing else to say!

Chanel is not known for big sales! You can however get lucky to find a few things on sale from a limited collection (I got a black/gold pearl necklace 30% off a few months ago.) The bags however, I was told, never go on sale!

123-53

Chanel Christmas tree in my home! What do you know…I can be quite creative!

123-46

My advice: Go for the classics. They will never go out of style!

123-20

I inherited the brooch  from my mother! She is still alive and well, but knew that I loved this little beauty so much, so she thought, that I should have it (very pleased with that!)

123-56

Tip of the day: You don’t have to be covered in Chanel to get the right look! This boucle jacket is from Maison Scotch and more affordable than the real deal

Or do as my creative friend, Marie… Create your own version for the ultimate hipster look.

Thats all I have for today. I hope you enjoyed reading the post, just as much as I did writing it. Chanel is by far my favourite store – and I believe strongly in buying fewer but more classic things, instead of a whole lot of stuff, that end up in the back of your closet after just one season! In my opinion Chanel never goes out of style. It is actually a good investment, since the prices seem to increase year after year!
